"crybaby" - Lil Peep

Crybaby is an album with some cool ideas ruined with whiny, annoying and horribly flawed choices along the way.

The song has a promising start but immedietly falls flat on it's face and then keeps falling flatter and flatter on it's face with each song.

Let's start with the positive. The title track "crybaby" is a really beautiful and nice song, The production is really pleasant, The piano with that longing note and everything put together made this a really promising start to this album. The lyrics are actually really sad and real and all in all the song is just great! Then we have the song lil Jeep which has a really cool instrumental and I was prepared to add it to my liked songs but then lil peep started singing.

After this point the album took a turn for the worst. The production of lil jeep is really pleasant to me and I would love it a lot but it feels like lil peeps vocals take A LOT away from the song. The rest of the album got even worse after lil jeep and I could immedietly tell I was not going to like the rest of this album as "Yesterday" started playing. The song samples the song "Wonderwall" by oasis and just takes the guitar from that song and makes a way worse trap version of the song but somehow the next song get's even worse than that. The song "absolute in doubt" has "Wicca Phase Springs Eternal" as a feature and they're singing is actually infuriating to listen to. Half of the song has this terrible vocal performance by "Wicca Phase Springs Eternal" and then Lil peep comes back and it was a relief to just hear Lil peep sing instead and the only thing that's wrong with Lil peep's part is that he rhymes Hollywood with Hollywood which is lazy but other than that there's nothing else to say. The song "ghost girl" comes after and it was a refreshing breath of an actual bearable song. The instrumental is this distorted synth and heavy bass and I really love the distorted sound of it and lil peep's vocals are fine but then there's the lyrics which are just bland and have nothing to it.

The song "big city blues" has the most obvious and objective flaw to it. The 808 bass goes off key and added on to that Lil peep sings off key and Cold Hart is actually awful in this song and all of this put together makes this the worst song on this album. I can't believe they would ever release this because it has such glaring problems. The song Skyscrapers has such a nice and comfy instrumental and then when lil peep sings on it it's so harsh and distorted that it's actually grating to the ears.

The last 3 songs are better than the rest of this awful album. the song Nineteen is actually fine, Lil peep didn't sing that nasily and screamy way that I really don't like and his vocals actually fit but it still has the problem of having not good lyrics which was also the only problem with the song White tee but the song is a good track with this plucky computer sounding instrumental that I found cool and then there's the last song, "Driveway" which production wise and vocal wise it's good but the lyrics are actually reallllllyyyyy awful but not in the same way as usual. The song is about a girl breaking up with peep and him threatining to shoot himself if she goes which is really fucked up.

All in all, This album has 1 song I actually enjoyed, 5 songs I hated and 4 songs that were bearable so I'm giving crybaby by lil peep a
